Monumental Yoga

My view from downward dog.

My view from downward dog.

The internet has been a-buzz with picture of Summer Solstice yoga in Times Square over the past couple of years. Thousands of people, coming together to celebrate the Solstice together in one place inspired yoga studios and The Athenaeum here in Indy to bring the practice to our city. Although we didn’t do the traditional 108 Sun Salutations (Eek!), we enjoyed a true hot yoga practice at Monument Circle with 1200 friends we hadn’t met yet!

In a city where many complain that “there’s nothing to do”, it was amazing to see so many people come together to celebrate peace, summer and the wonderful community we have here in Indianapolis. There is an amazing group of people here that are truly trying to make a positive change in our city. When Indy thrive, so do the rest of us. I am continually amazed at the ability to bring people together through their yoga practice.

If this many people can come together to pratice yoga, imagine what else we can do if we try……
