Advance Review: 22 Jump Street Delivers Serious Laughs
Written on June 11, 2014

NOTE: Spoiler-free review! For quite some time now, rebooting old movies and tv shows has been all the rage. For the most part, I think they miss much more often than they hit. 21 Jump Street shocked me at how funny it ended up being. The sequel, 22 Jump Street, delivers just
Review: A Million Ways To Die In The West

NOTE: Spoiler-free For the most part, I am not a Seth Macfarlane fan. His humor generally goes for the lowest common denominator, and he stretches jokes out so long on Family Guy, it’s clear he’s too lazy to write enough material for a 22 minute episode of television. With this opinion of
The Lego Movie: Everything Truly Is AWESOME!

NOTE: Spoiler-free outside of what is seen in trailers I’ve been looking forward to The Lego Movie ever since I saw the first trailer for it. From a 2 minute preview, I saw that the makers of this movie (also the directors of the first Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs movie,
Her: A Brilliant Warning To Lonely Geeks

SPOILER-FREE (aside from general plot from the trailer) After seeing the trailer for Her a few months back, I thought the movie looked terrifyingly brilliant. A lonely man named Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) purchases a copy of the first ever Artificially Intelligent Operating System (who names herself Samantha, voiced by Scarlett Johansson), who

NOTE: This review is spoiler-free, only mentioning what can be seen in the trailers for the film. When you think of Disney, happy, cheery things come to mind. Mickey Mouse, Woody and the gang from Toy Story, and just to name one more, Mary Poppins. With this in mind, I was quite
Thor: The Dark World: A Passable Marvel Sequel

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW After returning from seeing Thor: The Dark World, I’m still trying to form my opinion of it. I felt the same way after seeing Iron Man 3. While I didn’t dislike the movie, I definitely didn’t love it either. Post-The Avengers, it’s proving to be very difficult to tell exciting individual
Spoiler-Free Review: Curse of Chucky
Written on October 24, 2013
in Reviews, Spoiler-Free Movie Reviews

Though I consider myself a Chucky fan, I have never seen one of his movies in the theater. When I was younger, Child’s Play 2 and 3 always seemed to be playing on some basic cable channel, and whenever I came across one of these movies while flipping channels, I would always
Spoiler-Free Advance Review: Escape Plan

I’ve personally been enjoying Sylvester Stallone’s crusade since 2006 to make himself relevant again, and resurrect the glory of 1980’s action movies. I’ll shamefully admit I’ve never seen a single Rocky or Rambo movie, but I’ve loved both Expendables movies, and have fond memories of watching Demolition Man way too many times

It’s been 4 years since Neill Blomkamp made his feature writing and directing debut with District 9, and his follow up in both departments, Elysium was well worth the wait! Elysium takes place in the near distant future, 2154, on an Earth that has been destroyed due to over-population. While the majority
60 Second Spoiler-Free Review: The Wolverine

Just got home from seeing The Wolverine, and have to leave again shortly, so here’s a quickie review of the movie. It’s a darker, grittier Wolverine than we’ve seen in any other movie he’s been in, and not surprisingly, Hugh Jackman nails it! Wolverine in Japan = excellent martial arts action scenes!
