Makeup Review: Fandom Cosmetics “Keepers of the Peace”
At Fandom Fest, we ran across Fandom Cosmetics booth full of nail polish. I was ecstatic because I had just started experimenting with indie polish, and here was a whole booth where I could see the true colors without worrying if my monitors were showing me the correct colors or not. Not only that, but Fandom Cosmetics was offering free manicures with the purchase of a bottle of nail polish (or $4 without purchase). After all the craziness that was Fandom Fest, a manicure was a nice bit of pampering.
I picked up “Keepers of the Peace,” from the Fandom Cosmetics Star Wars collection. Each one of the colors in this collection is modeled off of a lightsaber. “Keepers of the Peace” is based on Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber. Also, each color in the collection is glow-in-the-dark. Now, I will say the nail polish never did glow for me. However, I didn’t follow directions either. The girls said to hold the color under a daylight style bulb for five minutes, which I never did. I don’t have any daylight bulbs and the glow-in-the-dark wasn’t a selling point for me anyway. If you are looking for a nail color to glow as soon as the lights go out like your childhood nail polish, this may not be the polish for you.
The iridescent purple of “Keepers of the Peace” is beautiful over any color that has a purple hint to it. My favorite combination was with Sally Hansen Grey Area, which is a dark greige with a hint of purple. It added an extra dimension to one of my already favorite colors.
It also looked amazing over OPI’s Can’t a Berry Have Some Fun?
While this particular color is no longer avaliable (I never saw it on their site actually), head over to FandomCosmetics.com to check out all of their fandom inspired nail polishes. They’ve also recently released candles, eyeshadows and scrubs.
I bought this product with my own money for review.
