One of my favorite things about Gen Con is how much the entire city of Indianapolis gets into the spirit. Restaurants transform into geeky havens. There are game tables wherever you look. And local companies run events that might be of interest to Gen Con attendees. One event that I’m particularly looking forward to is TechPoint’s League of Xtraordinary Programmers on Friday, August 5th at 7:00pm.
For those of you unfamiliar with TechPoint, they promote and help build Indy’s tech community through events like this one. And while the event may be named “League of Xtraordinary Programmers,” you don’t need to be a programmer to enjoy the festivities. There are a variety of things to experience and interact with this year. There will be sneak peaks at games, Oculus Rift demos, giveaways, 3D printer demos, and more. I am super excited to see all the 3D printing stuff myself. My printer runs pretty much nonstop these days. You’ll be able to check all this out with your fellow Indy techies, and get your Gen Con weekend off to an awesome start.
Early bird tickets for TechPoint’s League of Xtraordinary Programmers are only $12, and they’re $15 after that. It’s a bargain for such an awesome event. But, TechPoint has also provided a pair of tickets AND one four-day Gen Con 2016 pass to give away to Pure Geekery readers in exchange for spreading the word about the event.
