Lipstick Armour.

Macs Candy Yum-Yum is one of my go-to shades. 😀

It’s no secret that I’m a make up junkie since the age of 5 (blame Lip Smackers, every make up girl’s entrance drug). From drug stores to high-end specialty stores and mascara to nail polish, if it’s make up, I’ve probably tried it. Love it or hate it, I have overflowing drawers and crates of the stuff and you can be guaranteed to find at least one lipstick in every purse.

I went through a phase a few years ago where I loved crazy eye shadow. Eyes in a rainbow of colours, sometimes chosen by my preschool class, graced my face on a daily basis. These days I’ve moved on to lipstick. Pinks, reds, berries, and nudes rotate in and out depending on my mood. These days I can’t go out without dressing up my lips with the proper shade.

So why do I love make up? Shouldn’t I be happy with the way I am? Well…..who says I’m not? Make up for me is many things. Most days it’s fun- 20 minutes in the morning to focus on myself and nothing else is necessary to my sanity when I spend my day taking care of others. It’s armour on days when I need strength- a little war paint goes a long way.

I’ve seen a lot of hate between women on the internet lately. (Big surprise, right?) Women at each other’s throats because the choices of others don’t fit in to their narrow definition of what feminism should be. Last time I checked, feminism meant we all get to do our own thing and be happy. So wear lipstick or not. Love Sephora or hate it. I couldn’t care less. Do your thing ladies, and I’ll do mine. We’re all fabulous.
