5 on Friday: Throw a Geeky BBQ With Think Geek

geeky-bbqThe Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. It centers around hanging out with your friends and family, cooking out, having a few beers, and then watching stuff explode. It’s really perfect if you think about it.

Of course, when you have your friends and family over for a cook out, you’re going to want to show off your geekiness. Here are some of the coolest things I found on Think Geek for your geeky BBQ. (And don’t forget our Geek Chic by The Pool post if there’s water in your Fourth of July plans.)

TGX Tactical BBQ Fork with (flashlight & laser) sight

It is my personal belief that everything is better with lasers. When plotting to kill Austin Powers, did Dr. Evil want regular sharks? Heck no! He want sharks with freaking laser beams on their heads. So while I don’t know why your BBQ fork needs a laser, I know I now want it to have one. And in reality, the flashlight would be pretty handy if you’re still grilling when the sun goes down.

Iron Man Apron

When I cook, I make a mess. And I’ve saved several outfits by wearing an apron. And if you’re outside grilling and having a few drinks, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to get something on yourself. So save your clothes and just wear one while you’re grilling.

Han Solo in Carbonite bottle opener

Unless all of your guests are going to drink beer that comes in cans (which is actually my preferred way for what it’s worth. Keeps light and air out better than bottles.) or from bottles with twist off tops, you’re going to need a bottle opener. And this all metal Han Solo in Carbonite one is pretty awesome. I know Tony from Geeking in Indiana is really happy with his Han in Carbonite business card case, and I’d assume they’re made in a very similar way.

Planetary Plates

Planetary Plates
You’re going to need something for your guests to eat off of after you’re done cooking. I always prefer plastic for outside (for obvious reasons). And I love these planet plates. Except for I’m really sad they left off Pluto. Poor Pluto.

Lastly, popsicles. While I personally usually go for Bomb-Pops on the Fourth of July, these DIY lightsaber ones glow in the dark. Plus, you could make grown-up popsicles. Just make sure there are no kids around. That’s just asking for disaster.
