Song Blog: Stars – The Theory of Relativity

One of the books I’ve been reading is Songbook by Nick Hornby. It’s basically the ultimate mix tape. It’s a compilation of songs, each with a few pages detailing out why the song is one of Hornby’s favorites. It’s a very cool idea, and a fun read. I was inspired to share some of my favorite songs with all of you, and thus, Song Blog.

It seems I should start with a song that has a direct influence on Pure Geekery. It’s not even a song so much as it is an album. Scratch that, it was the concert promoting an album.

In October in 2012 one of my favorite bands, Stars, came through Indianapolis for the first time. So of course I jumped on the chance to see them play live. The show was amazing. I would guess the show had 200 people at it, which gave the entire performance an intimate feel.

I really can’t put into words what made the show so amazing, but at the end I just felt like I had to make…something. The next month I started blogging. I also bought a DSLR, but you see how that turned out.

Below is their track “The Theory of Relativity” which is one of my favorite songs from the album they were promoting that fall, The North.
