Giveaway: Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less Tickets
I love live theatre, so does Claire. We both were theatre kids in high school (no, not the same high school). She was an actress and I worked backstage. So when we were wandering around Fandom Fest on Friday night, and stumbled across Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less, a live action version of Star Wars, it instantly moved to the top of our “to-do” list.
Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less is a parody show, where they reenact the entire original trilogy in 60 minutes or less. (It broke my heart when they called it “the trilogy” and a teenager behind me said “Which trilogy?”) They break down each movie into the iconic scenes. Before the show starts they explain they need you to make sound effects. Whenever an actor comes out with a “Cue: Blasters” or “Cue: Lightsabers” the audience makes the appropriate sounds. They also bring out props for audience participation.
Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less is obviously as show written and performed by fans. My favorite parts were when they would parody the special editions and changes, pointing out things like Han Shot First. As well as adding in what they predict will be in future special editions.
I know I’m being vague here, but Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less is really a show you have to see to get the full effect. It was popular enough at Fandom Fest that they added an encore presentation due to demand. Thankfully, they’ve been awesome enough to giveaway a pair of tickets to a lucky Pure Geekery reader! The tickets are for the August 15th show at The Bard’s Town in Louisville. Tickets guarantee entry, but not necessarily a seat so make sure you get there early to get a table!
If you aren’t in the Louisville area, check out our Facebook and Flickr albums to get an idea of the show.
Death of Obi-Wan is the scene I want to see re-enacted.
I would love this!
