5 on Friday: Five Geeky Etsy Shops

Lately we’ve been getting messages from Pure Geekery fans asking us to feature their geeky Etsy shop. I love geeky crafts, and the creators who don’t send cease-and-desist letters (I’m looking at you Fox). And I love people trying to find a way to escape the 9-to-5 (I fantasize Pure Geekery will get to that point at some time). I’ve bought anything from these shops (yet), so I can’t personally attest to the items quality.

Without further ado, I present to you the sites that asked me to feature their geeky etsy goodness. Plus a few other cool shops I found.

Spark Crochet

I was contacted about Spark Crochet by long-time Pure Geekery reader Matt Kendrick. Spark Crochet is his wife’s Etsy Shop. They make a variety of scarves, but the ones that really stand out to me are their Harry Potter scarves. Etsy is a cornucopia of Harry Potter scarves, but I love the more feminine take of these. They currently have Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor (shown below). No Slytherin though (serves you right Slytherin). She also blogs about her geek crafts over at KendrickCrafts.com.

NB Designs

Natasha of NB Designs contacted us asking us to feature her science-y designs. And while most of her designs are science based, like the atomic love design below. Her shop also features writing, Harry Potter, and animals. She will also do custom designs. All the jewelry is made out of fine silver.

Fox Grove Designs

Fox Grove Designs is the first company that sponsored a giveaway here on Pure Geekery. Her designs aren’t strictly geeky but several of them are, like the robot engagement announcements below. What I love about her shop is that she sells the file, rather than the printouts. You can buy the design once, and then print it as often as you like.

Handmade Stuffs

When I asked on Twitter for some of your favorite Etsy shops, Handmade Stuffs was one of the shops sent to me. Confession time, I’m kind of tired of zombie stuff. It’s everywhere and I just have zombie fatigue. But I do love the cute zombie plushie below. There are more zombies in the shop plus Cthulhu and dragons. She has more designs on her blog, I’m assuming that she has a limited selection in her shop because she’s hitting the con circuit right now. Hopefully after she’s done she’ll post more, because I totally want the Garrus plushie.

Anomaly Accessories

I’m pretty much in love with the PSP necklace from Anomaly accessories shown below. Its a new take on the gamer girl jewelry that is so trendy in the geek world right now. There are also a variety of sci-fi, Game of Thrones, and steampunk inspired designs in her shop as well. You can learn more about the girl behind the designs at JessiRoman.com.

Did I Miss Your Favorite Geeky Etsy Shop?

Let’s face it, Etsy is getting more and more inundated with cheap stuff from China and generic designs. It’s getting harder to find the truly unique, handmade items we love. I’m hoping to spread the word about the good ones out there. So if there’s a geeky etsy shop you love, leave a comment and let me know about it below!
