Leveling Up: +1 to Energy from Eating Breakfast
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the foundation of how you will eat for the rest of your meals. (They of course, are those who are them.) It took me forever (long since before I even started this blog) to find an easy, filling breakfast that wouldn’t have me running over to the community snack drawer for second breakfast. I have finally found the right combination of fat, protein, and carbs that will hold me over until lunch.
Pictured here is my new breakfast. Two hard boiled egg whites, one wedge of Laughing Cow cream cheese, one 100% whole wheat bagel thin, water, and tea. I actually had coffee with an ounce of cream before this, so that’s what the nutrition below includes.

It took me forever to find a decent healthy breakfast that held me over as well. John and I recently started having a protein-packed balanced breakfast every morning, which includes 2 eggs with a small amount of cheese, bell peppers, and two slices of low-sodium bacon, orange juice and coffee. I am prolly going to nix the orange juice after we finish up what we have in the refrigerator though, because I don’t like to drink my calories.
Clementines are in season, you could replace the orange juice with two clementines for extra fiber and vitamin C.
Your breakfast sounds delicious.
Actually, I meant to pick up clementines this past weekend because they were on sale, but I forgot. I think I’ll get them when I go shopping this week. Thanks for the rec!
That breakfast most certainly does sound delicious! A few tricks for satiety which you’re most certainly incorporating here: Make sure both significant amounts of protein (your egg whites) and fiber (like from your whole grain bagel) is in your meal. It’ll make you feel fuller for longer!
Having a typical “all carb-high sugar” (aka, sugary cereal–what most people have) breakfast will do nothing but make you hungry an hour later!
Completely agree here! I replaced cereal with a delicious granola, and I found that the high fiber in the granola kept me fuller longer than the cereal. It’s all about balancing your food groups to make you more energized!
