Happy Galentine’s Day!

Galentine's DayIt’s time for the second most wonderful holiday of the year (because you can’t beat Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday dedicated to food). It’s the day you tell those important to you how much you love them. That’s right, it’s Galentine’s Day!

Galentine’s Day started as a fictional holiday created by Parks and Rec in their second season. Leslie Knope has created this holiday (of course she did), set the day before Valentine’s Day, as a day to celebrate lady friends. And as she says, “It should be a national holiday.”  And really, it should. Our friends put up with a bunch of crap. They have to hear about all the problems in our relationship, with our families, and just general “this sucks” stuff. They listen and agree with us (or gently give us advice if we’re misguided).

Galentine’s Day is the chance to say “thank you for dealing with the fact that I’m crazy.” So take a bit of time today to show you’re girlfriends how much they mean to you. Go out for coffee (or as Claire and I will be doing, cupcakes). Send a cute ecard, or two. Watch Mean Girls (because you can never watch it too many times).

And always remember, besties before testes.
