This is Important: CISPA is Back

CISPAIn general, I try to avoid politics on this site. But when one of the worst bits of internet legislation makes a return to the house floor, I need to do whatever I can to spread the word. CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) is a bill that will allow companies to share your information with the government for any reason. Much like I did with SOPA, I’m going to direct you to the authorities on the matter. For the best “in a nutshell” summation of this proposed bill has been posted by the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation). Digital Trends has posted a piece comparing President Obama’s executive order to CISPA that is also worth a read.

I highly encourage you all to sign the petition to stop this bill. This is going to be a long uphill battle to keep the internet free. Bills will continue to be proposed, but we cannot become apathetic.
