Claire’s Top 5 Things on the Internet: Pop Culture News!

Judy G. sleeps off the writers block. Dog life is hard.

I started three different blog todays before I realized that writer’s block had set in. Spending the morning convincing a five-year-old she really can swim and then diving in to the job search will do that to a girl. (Side note: Bill Cosby is way funnier when you’re a parent. In honor of my complete mental exhaustion and need for a good laugh, here are some ridiculous pop culture things I found on the internet.

5.George RR Martin lamented his lack of invite to the Kim/Kanye wedding on Twitter.  I have to admit, I would have loved to seem him running that show.

4. Bill Murray crashed a bachelor party. His best advice? “If you have someone that you think is the one … take that person and travel around the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And … when you land at JFK and you’re still in love with that person, get married.” Pretty sage advice Bill. You’re welcome to crash my party anytime 🙂

3. Any Queen fans out there? Rolling Stone reports that the band will release a new album with previously unreleased Freddie Mercury vocals from the 1980s. They also announced that they’re embarking on a 19-date US tour with Adam Lambert as their lead signer. I have strongly mixed feelings about all this news.

2. Steven S. DeKnight has replaced Drew Goddard as showrunner on Marvel’s Netflix series Daredevil. DeKnight is a Whedon alum, having worked on Buffy, Angel, and Dollhouse, as well as Smallville and (one of my personal favorites) Spartacus.  Goddard (Buffy, Lost) is sticking around a Executive producer and will be focusing on Sony’s Sinister Six. With this much talent in charge, we geeks are sure to have plenty of good superhero content to enjoy in the future.

1. McDonald’s released their creepy new mascot, Happy. And then everyone gave McDonalds free advertising by hating on Happy on Twitter. Good job Twitter. However, this video of kids reacting to the creeptastic new mascot is too funny not to share.

Rock on geek warriors. Also, #IndyPopCon is this weekend. Make sure to grab pre-sale tickets by Thursday to avoid paying $5 more!
